TATA claims TATA NANO to be PEOPLES CAR as it cheapest among all the existing cars . Bajaj has also launched small sized car but it is expected to slightly costlier than Tata's Nano car.Tata Motors drive to produce a cheap, no-nonsense, small car was inspired from close observation of a local market where millions often carry families of four, plus baggage on motorbikes or scooters.

This car is expected to hit the market within a span of 8 months but the point of debate are the issues that it will cause such as

  1. Serious Environmental concerns
  2. Traffic Congestion
  3. Parking Problems
  4. Increase in Accidents

Many environmentalist are opposing the launch of this car due to adverse effect on environment when everyone starts buying this car. Only way to counter is this by encouraging public transport system . Other way that economist are suggesting is to tax this car 'LIKE CRAZY' . This car is making me wonder the conditions of roads of hyderabad when it is available for sale , well that will not be only case of hyderabad infact whole of INDIA, rather may impact the whole world with advent of this trend .

Share your comments what you feel about this car and its impact on our society.

i read up on the tata nano and they are planning to sell about ONE MILLION a year! i'm freaked out, we're talking about MILLIONS more cheap little cars on the road. that's something all the CFL light bulbs in the world can't reverse. millions of people who would otherwise never have a car, and be perfectly fine in a culture without cars, will now have one and further contribute to global warming.

Tata Nano car......

Nano-one billionth...and it is true..... that it has made dreams of more than billion population of India into the reality... No doubt its a People car.....

A dream, nobody in the WORLD has ever thought. No body dared to think about manufacturing a $2500 car...

Intially when Ratan Tata has announced about launching of 1-lakh car four years ago, many speculations went on like.. it will be a scooter with roof, sophisticated three wheeler... etc

But still, I am in state of confusion about how TATA's could produce 1-lakh car inspite of increase in input costs. Even in 9th AUTO EXPO, TATA's never spoke about the profitability , cost involved, they just said its a NICE GOOD LOOKING CAR.
